About Michael

A general overview

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Computer Information Systems from Saint Cloud State University’s AACSB International accredited College of Business. This degree combines a strong business foundation with solid technical skills enabling me to design, develop and deploy internet and intranet applications to solve business problems. SCSU is also where I began pursuing application development. My employment in the Information Technology Services department gave me the opportunity to develop dozens of applications using technologies such as ASP, SQL, XML, the .Net Framework and JavaScript. My position also required me to meet with department heads to analyze problems and develop solutions based on the needs of the department. Some of my most memorable projects are showcased in the Project Portfolio area of this website.

The position at Saint Cloud State provided me with the experience and training necessary for position I held at Market Cross Hairs, Inc. During my employment with MCH I was responsible for the design, development, deployment and maintenance of content management and information support systems. These systems currently drive and support several hundred real estate agent and broker websites throughout the country. Each website is comprised of a suite of applications including website activity statistics, several real estate and non-real estate specific content management applications, lead generation systems and much more. These applications and other support systems are all built upon the .Net Framework (VB.Net and C#) and MS SQL Server 2000.

In late 2005, I left MCH for a postion at Time Warner Cable. Throughout my short stay at TWC I was resposible for maintaining existing .Net applications and SQL Server processes, as well as assuming the role of lead .Net Applications Developer. Notable projects include roll out of an OLAP cube used for work order sales metrix and the migration of approximately 20 mission critical databases from an over burdened SQL Sever 2000 database server to an more robust SQL Server 2005 database server.

Aside from my professional development career, I am actively involved in the .Net development community. This extra activity helps keep me up to date on emerging technologies, patterns and practices as well as allowing me to hone my skills and broaden my knowledge of this dynamic industry.
